The diocesan leadership.
MAIN ROLES:
TO TEACH
The Bishop is to be a teacher of the faith.
It is his responsibility to pass on the fullness of Scripture and Sacred Tradition of the Catholic Church to his diocesan flock.
He must also ensure that everyone that teaches on his behalf (Clergy, teachers, catechists, etc.) also teach the truth.
He is the principal teacher for his diocese. Because of this, it is his responsibility to protect doctrine and prevent heresy.
TO GOVERN
The Bishop is to govern his diocese.
He does so with constancy, courage and fidelity to God and His Eternal Kingdom.
God has entrusted the diocese to his care and because of this, the Bishop must rule his diocese with the upmost charity and respect.
The authority that the Bishop has comes directly from Jesus, The Good Shepherd.
This authority covers every aspect of the diocese and it completely relies upon God.
TO SANCTIFY
The Bishop is to sanctify the church.
He is to do this through his good example of prayer and reverence for things of God.
By following the example of Jesus Christ,
he is to strive for Christian perfection while
also encouraging his flock to follow him.
In addition to his own example of sanctity,
he is to ensure that the sacraments are offered, prayer is abundant and Jesus is constantly adored throughout his diocese.
