Monsignor Leonard E. Racki, 88, passed away January 30, 2017. He was born to Chester and Anna Racki on November 6, 1928, in Buffalo, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Msgr. Racki attended St. Jerome’s College in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada and graduated in June of 1958 from St. Thomas Seminary College in Denver. On May 26, 1962, he was ordained as a priest for the Diocese of Pueblo at St. Stephen’s Church in Buffalo.
Msgr. Racki served in many parishes and in many capacities in the diocese during his years as a priest. His assignments included St. Francis Xavier, St. Anne, St. Pius X, St. Joseph and the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, as well as chaplain at the Colorado State Hospital. He also served as vice-chancellor, vicar general, dean of the Pueblo Deanery and associate director of the Institute for Clergy Formation at the St. Patrick Seminary in California.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Alice Feyes and Norma Kowalczyk . He is survived by his brother, Norman Racki of Buffalo, N.Y., as well as all his fellow priests, sisters and deacons of the Diocese of Pueblo.
