Durango Knights assist local family

The Durango Knights of Columbus Council #1408 were approached this past fall to assist a parish family in preparing their recently-purchased home for the upcoming winter.  The husband recently suffered from a heart condition and his wife was confined to a wheelchair.  The home would require a great deal of patchwork and remodeling to be ready for a Colorado winter.

A total of a dozen Knights responded to the call and made three different trips to the home site 20 miles from Durango.  They insulated to keep heat in, built walls for showers, and renovated a bathroom. A number of outside leaks were closed and the roof was also patched.  Knights members contributed over 150 man-hours to fulfill our goal of being Catholic men of faith and men of charitable action.
