The Diocese of Pueblo is partnering with the University of Dayton to offer online faith formation courses for adults who wish to learn more about their faith. This kind of online learning provides people the opportunity of religious education anytime, anywhere via the internet. It supports adult faith leaders, especially youth, deacon, catechist, lay ecclesial leaders and anyone interested in learning more about their faith.
This partnership with Dayton allows anyone in the Diocese to take classes at a reduced rate of $40 per class. Registration can take place on Dayton’s website, vlc.udayton.edu. Closed groups of 10 to 14 people can also be arranged and paid for by the Diocese.
Most classes last five weeks with the exception of a few seminars that last three. There are seven cycles that begin at various times throughout the year. Participants can expect to spend approximately eight hours a week during each week of the course. Some courses require more study time, others less. The amount of time spent will depend on the participant’s familiarity with the topic.
Courses offered through the University of Dayton are built on the adult learning model. Readings are given online or from assigned textbooks. The group is asked to reflect on the readings and respond in short paragraphs to several assigned questions given throughout the week. Participants are expected to respond to input given by other members of the group. A facilitator trained by Dayton is always present to guide the discussion.
