Roman Missal Third Edition

New Words: Deeper Meaning, the Same Mass
Welcome to the Diocese of Pueblo’s information page on the third edition of the Roman Missal (formerly, Sacramentary).

Overview
On August 20, 2010, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announced that the English translation of the third edition of the Roman Missal had been approved by the Congregation of Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. The first use of the new text will be the First Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011.

Sung Parts
At their June 2011 meeting, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the Bishops Committee on Divine Worship made the decision to allow gradual incorporation of the new sung parts of the mass, with the permission of the Diocesan Bishop, beginning in September. Much concern has arisen about the singing of the Gloria with little to no liturgical use prior to Christmas. The Bishops hope to alleviate this issue by allowing liturgical use of particularly the Gloria, Holy and Memorial Acclamations early.  Bishop Isern has given permission for parishes to begin using the new sung parts beginning September 3 and 4.

This webpage was created to provide resources, links, and information on the Roman Missal as they are available.
