Briefly, describe your journey to this point:
As a matter of logic, faith has always seemed to me to be an activity of great commitment, as opposed to a part-time effort. I base this opinion on what our Lord and Savior has done for us, and what I perceive our response should be to LOVE. How can we be ambivalent about this? My life has seen many ups and downs, but my heart has always been inclined toward God.

How did you know God was calling you to the diaconate?
As a young man, I discerned (loosely) the priesthood but I met and fell in love with my wife. As the years went on, I continued to feel a pull towards deepening my faith. Eventually I became aware of the diaconate through the Level II, ministry formation program, and after a couple attempts finally applied to the program.

What are you most looking forward to?
I think being a bigger part of the sacramental lives of the people of my parish, serving them any way I can, and being a bridge between all the people and the Church.

How has your wife helped you in the formation process?
My wife’s support and honest feedback have been essential for many years, to not only my diaconal formation but my faith development over-all. She has always had a natural deep faith while I have had to “work at it” through various studies and prayer efforts. She has shown me that, in the end, reliance on the Father in simple and loving devotion should be our goal.
