Spring Study Days 2015

By Deacon Dan Leetch, Director of Pastoral Services

The Diocese of Pueblo will once again host its annual “Spring Study Days” this May. The dates for this event are Monday evening May 11 through Wednesday morning May 13. The pastoral staff at the chancery is in the process of determining the exact venue, but the event will take place in Pueblo.

The title for this year’s gathering is “Thriving as a Pastor and Team – Skills for Successful Ministry.” The presenters will be Dr. Emily Cash and Fr. Jim Gordon, both from the St. Luke Center in Louisville, Ky. Dr. Cash completed her doctoral training in clinical psychology in New York City, and her work now centers on assisting individuals and teams with mental health and well-being. Fr. Jim Gordon, Ph.D. is a priest of the Diocese of Richmond, Va. During his 33 years as a priest he has served in multiple parish settings and now is a member of the St. Luke Institute staff.

The work for our gathering will center on topics which include healthy boundaries, navigating challenging personalities, the nature of professional communication and healthy decision making. Dr. Cash and Fr. Gordon will guide us as we examine our present methods for dealing with these often tricky situations, and if necessary help us to create new and hopefully more effective strategies.

The Study Days are directed toward clergy, parish pastoral teams, Catholic educators, and all interested adults. This topic is one that can help each of us examine the ways we interact with one another as a path toward further personal growth. Once again, we will have the opportunity to pray together, to enjoy one another’s company and to renew friendships. We will conclude on Wednesday with Mass commemorating the important anniversaries of members of our clergy celebrated by Bishop Stephen Berg.

The pastoral team hopes you will make time in your often hectic schedules to join other adults from around the diocese as we gather to reflect on our ministries. These few days are a real source of refreshment and recommitment to the work which we attempt to carry on in the name of Jesus Christ.

More information will be available soon on both the weekly email blast and our diocesan website, www.dioceseofpueblo.org. Keep watching both of these for registration information, location and cost. Hope to see you there.
