Knights give back to community

Knights of Columbus members from the St. Therese council 12720 took the lead coordinating fellow Knights from councils 2977, 12020, 4286 and 557 in the cleanup of several sections of Roselawn cemetery in Pueblo.

All of the priests’ graves and the bishops’ mausoleum were cleaned and detailed, overgrowth around the stations of the cross was enhanced by stately five-foot sierra statues as well as taking care to clean the graves of the sisters from the Order of St. Benedict, Sisters of Charity and Sisters of Loretto.

The Knights designed and funded weatherproof banners that were placed on Memorial Day on the bishops’ mausoleum and the 40 priest graves. “We wanted to honor the priests and bishops who have faithfully served our community and the placement of the banners will be a tradition from here forward each Memorial Day,” said Jim Pagano.

They hope to include banners for all the sisters’ graves as their project for next year.
