Spring Study Days 2015

By Deacon Dan Leetch, Director of Pastoral Services
The Diocese of Pueblo gathered for “Spring Study Days” May 11 through 13 at St. Joseph Parish in Pueblo. Over 170 members of our diocese attended this three day event.

The title for this year’s gathering was “Thriving as a Pastor and Team – Skills for Successful Ministry.” Our presenters Dr. Emily Cash and Fr. Jim Gordon from the St. Luke Center in Louisville Ky. led us through many exercises and discussions as we looked closely at issues ranging from self care to dealing with difficult situations in ministry.

Our Spring Study Days each year are directed toward clergy, parish pastoral teams, Catholic educators, and all interested adult parishioners. The turn out once again proves that this brief gathering is of tremendous value. The social time together allowed us to reconnect with folks we may not get to see often enough.

Bishop Stephen Berg celebrated a closing Mass which commemorated the anniversaries of several members of the clergy. This year Fathers Ben Bacino, Mike DeSciose and Patrick Valdez celebrated 40 years and Father Gregory Ezeanya marked 25 years. Also celebrating anniversaries but unable to attend were Fr. Raymond Grimes (60 years) and Fr. Robert Haberman (40 years).

The chancery staff is deeply grateful to St. Joseph Parish in Pueblo for serving as the host site for the event. The facilities were wonderful, and the parish community and staff were both welcoming and tremendously helpful!

It is not too early to mark your calendars for next year’s gathering. We will meet at St. Pius Church in Pueblo May 9 to 11, 2016. Please save the dates and make plans to join us for this annual event.
