Rev. Michael E. Corbett was born May 26, 1925 to Michael and Mary Ann (Ferencik) Corbett.   His parents and his brother Rev. Raymond Corbett preceded him in death.  Fr. Michael graduated from Central High School and then served in the United States Marine Corps for three years.  He studied philosophy and theology at the St. Thomas Seminary in Denver and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Pueblo on May 29, 1954.  His first assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Francis Xavier in Pueblo.

  The following year he served briefly as associate pastor at St. Joseph in Grand Junction, then St. Peter in Rocky Ford for four years.  In the summer of 1959 he was assigned to assist at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pueblo.  In January 1961, he also was named chaplain to the Columbian Squires.  In the summer of 1961, he was named pastor of St. Patrick in Telluride for three years, then in 1965 pastor of St. Rose of Lima in Buena Vista. In 1967, he was appointed as co-pastor at St. Francis de Sales in Lamar then at Our Lady of the  Assumption parish in Pueblo.  He served as chaplain at St. Mary Corwin Hospital before being re-assigned to serve as associate pastor at St. Francis Xavier in Pueblo in 1982.  Within the year he was asked to serve as pastor at St. Anne in Pueblo. Fr. Corbett was retired in Pueblo.   Father Corbett’s graveside service was held on September 3 at Roselawn Cemetery in Pueblo.
