Nationally-known speaker and artist speaks at DCCW Convention

By Carole Ricotta
The Diocese of Pueblo Council of Catholic Women held its annual convention at St. Joseph Parish in Pueblo. This gathering was hosted by the Pueblo District of the Council of Catholic Women.

The meeting was chaired by the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women’s president, Gloria Romero and the Pueblo District Council of Catholic Women’s president, Carole Ricotta. Over 240 women and guests from the Diocese of Pueblo attended the convention.

It was a joyous convention made so by the presentations of guest artist ValLimar Jansen.

Ms. Jansen tours regionally, nationally, and internationally as an inspirational speaker, a storyteller, a psalmist, a song leader, a principal vocalist and/or an emcee.

She shared her incredible voice and each one of those talents with the audience throughout the entire day.

The theme of the Convention was “trust” which was affirmed by the storytelling and singing of stories from the Bible by Ms. Jansen. She involved the convention attendees from the first moment she stepped on the stage to the last standing ovation in the evening.

The full day of Gospel stories ended with a memorial service for deceased members led by Rose Guerrero, the celebration of Mass by Bishop Stephen Berg and a dinner with entertainment. Eleanor Saenz won the trunk raffle and all attendees left with gifts. It was a full day of spiritual celebration.

Sponsors for the convention included many businesses from around Southern Colorado as well as several councils of the Knights of Columbus.
