Looking Forward: 2017 and Beyond

“I keep hearing about the Bishop’s new strategic plan. What’s going on, and how does it affect me, my family, pastor, and parish?”

Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, set the stage in 2013 when he said: “I dream of a ‘missionary option,’ that is, a missionary impulse capable of transforming everything, so that the Church’s customs, ways of doing things, times and schedules, language and structures can be suitably channeled for the evangelization of today’s world” (The Joy of the Gospel, no. 27).

We all want something better, and God wants it for us too! In response, Bishop Berg is leading with a Strategic Plan, which outlines why we exist (mission), how we behave (values), what we want our diocese to look like in five years (vision), and the key areas we will focus on to get there. This will be accompanied by reorganized personnel for more effective implementation, along with tools such as 4 Levels of Happiness, Forming Intentional Discipleship, and The Amazing Parish. There will also be expanded training opportunities made available to all the faithful. Please stay connected to the diocesan website and publications for updates and resources. May Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Therese of Lisieux blanket our path with roses from heaven.
