Peoples everywhere, open the doors to Christ! His Gospel in no way detracts from man's freedom…By accepting Christ, you open yourselves to the One in whom God has made himself fully known and has shown us the path to himself…the urgency of the Church's mission is obvious…God is opening before the Church the horizons of a humanity more fully prepared for the sowing of the Gospel. I sense that the moment has come to commit all of the Church's energies to a new evangelization…No believer in Christ, no institution of the Church can avoid this supreme duty: to proclaim Christ to all peoples. – Saint John Paul II
Why should we invite Father Matthew Wertin to our parish?
- To carry out Bishop Berg's wishes, since Father Matthew is tasked with supporting pastors and parishes through direct, hands-on service in advancing the mission of the diocese and gaining buy-in/traction with regards to the key initiatives (i.e. The Little Way, The Amazing Parish, Forming Intentional Disciples).
- To offer retreats, workshops, and/or parish missions on various topics, but especially prayer, since he is equipped to help you make sure that more of the people in the pews are becoming actively engaged in playing their role, progressing through the thresholds of conversion as growing followers of Jesus.
- To facilitate sessions with parish leaders on things like vision/mission, in order to clarify and align everything around their core purpose, by which they will then more quickly and effectively reach their goals and gain the desired results, in conjunction with The Amazing Parish process and its 4 Disciplines of a Healthy Organization, used also by Bishop Berg for his Senior Staff with regards to pastoral planning and decision-making.
